Impressive debut for Seattle Pride

CHAMPION trainer John Moore unleashed the first of his American-bred private purchase griffins yesterday and Seattle Pride did all that was asked of him by making a winning debut in the opener.

The son of Seattle Dancer knuckled down well to beat Ivan Allan's Successful Years by a neck with Patrick Biancone's newcomer, Amazing Win, an unlucky third.

Winning jockey Johnny Marshall said: ''I was pleased with the way he did it but I wouldn't be getting too carried away about the race.'' The first two home pulled three quarters of a length clear of Amazing Win, the 3-1 favourite who was done no favours in the straight by Seattle Pride.

Eric Legrix who rode Amazing Win said: ''I would have objected to the winner if I had been second as twice he blocked me.'' Executive Action missed the start badly and, in the circumstances, did well to rally to run fourth.

Seattle Pride was Moore's 26th winner of the season but he trails Allan by seven in the championship.
