Acid attack on wife 'out of love not hate'

A man threw acid on his wife out of love, not hate, the Court of First Instance heard yesterday. Lee Chi-san, 64, had pleaded guilty to a single count of throwing a corrosive fluid with intent in the March 7 attack on his wife, Tang Suet-mui. Defence counsel Peter Chow Pak-chu said his client suffered from a delusional disorder and could experience morbid jealousy and depressive episodes. Lee became extremely jealous after concluding that his wife had slept with another man. The hearing continues today.
