Books will always have their value

Books play a very important role in our lives. They are actually a part of us, providing knowledge and enjoyment.

Sometimes students carry schoolbags packed with textbooks. Despite the heavy burden, they know that books are essential for their studies.

There are e-books now, thanks to advanced technology. They can be 'carried' in devices like mobile phones, laptops and personal digital assistants. But how come traditional books are still used in school? Some may say it is a matter of cost, while it is also easier to write notes in a book. Others may say their eyes get tired more easily when they are looking at a monitor for a long time.

I agree with these views, but huge books - especially reference material and dictionaries - could be used in the form of e-books. For example, typing a word into an e-book dictionary is much quicker than flipping through the pages.

I think we should strike a balance between traditional books and their electronic versions.

Thanks for writing in, Eugenie. Books are a very important part of our lives. They are a treasure trove of knowledge and a source of inspiration.

Technology has brought us many advantages, for instance, e-books. I agree that e-books are convenient and time-saving, but traditional books will never lose their value, and e-books can never replace traditional books, just like computers can never replace humans.

After all, there's nothing like curling up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book in your hands.
