Ambassadors promote anti-corruption message among peers

Students from the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have become ICAC ambassadors to help make Hong Kong a cleaner, fairer and less corrupt society.

Co-organised by CityU and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), the ICAC Ambassador Programme consists of visits to the ICAC headquarters and campus activities aimed at spreading the anti-corruption message.

Over the past two weeks, game booths, talks, movie screenings and seminars had been held on campus where visitors learned about the ICAC.

Professor Lilian Vrijmoed, CityU's dean of student learning, said the programme helped instil the correct moral concepts in students. 'I believe students should learn the importance of integrity and develop a set of moral values to guide their lives,' she said.

Year Three student from the department of management sciences, is one of the

27 ambassadors selected. 'The programme not only provides me with an opportunity to cooperate with schoolmates from different departments, it also allows me to understand the work of the ICAC.'

Another ICAC Ambassador, Hui Shun-leong, said the programme made him realise that corruption affects every aspect of a society. 'We are faced with moral dilemmas all the time in our lives. That's why having correct moral concepts and a sense of integrity is very important,' he said.
