Community service for dairy blackmail

A woman was sentenced to 160 hours of community service for blackmailing a dairy company after her five-year-old son fell ill after drinking spoiled milk. Kowloon City Court heard that Chan Man-kuen, 41, who pleaded guilty to blackmail, threatened to share her story with the media last August unless mainland-based China Mengniu Dairy paid HK$30,000 in compensation. The court heard that an offer of free drinks had been refused.
