Total Petrochemicals, a part of Total SA, the fourth largest oil and gas company in the world, seeks a trader to be stationed in Hong Kong who will be responsible for the commercial activities of aromatic products within its base chemicals division, as well as help to cope with continued growth in Asia.
Applicants should have a university background in finance and economics or the equivalent, ideally with five years of experience in petrochemical trading.
The role would involve marketing and exploring trade opportunities in aromatic products in the Asian region, developing and identifying business opportunities, managing regional supply chain activities, managing financial and operational risks as well as co-ordinating with other departments in Asia and Europe.
Candidates must have good knowledge of petrochemical activities and products and knowledge of the logistics in bulk chemicals and geographical product flows in Asia.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work outside office hours is essential. The candidate must also possess strong negotiation, communication and conflict-resolution skills to succeed in the role.
Intensive training programmes would be provided to the suitable candidate but applicants without a trading background or experience in the petrochemical industry must give reasons why they want to join the industry and why they would like to develop their career in trading.
