If you find writing down expenses, adding them and drawing up budgets boring or frightening, try these tips.
Use colour: Use pens of different colour to write the units - the 10s, the 100s etc.
Use the computer: Create a nice spreadsheet with colours and fancy drawings. Make sure the formulae are right.
Use bricks or play dough: If you find numbers too abstract, use bricks to count (different colours) or make play dough balls.
Use your imagination: Visualise the bricks you use to count when you go shopping. It will be easier to do mental maths.
Add drawings: Instead of simply noting down the amount you spend, add drawings; your spreadsheet will look more fun.
