IT is - thank God - not acceptable anymore to make derogatory and racist remarks about the colour of another person's skin in an advertisement. It is also - fortunately - usually not acceptable anymore to use sexist remarks in marketing a product.
Why should it be acceptable to make insulting remarks about a woman - or a man whose body has a different shape or weight (I refer to the Phillip Wain advert, South China Morning Post, March 7)? To label another person as a (flabby) failure, because her/his body is not slim, is more than just bad taste.
It is a judgment based on ignorance, prejudice and intolerance.
