It's a snap

Canon's 10-megapixel PowerShot A480 compact digital camera (above) is designed for easy use. It has 15 preset shooting modes, including 'sunset' and 'children and pets'. Face-detection technology can identify up to nine faces and automatically adjust the focus, exposure, flash setting and white balance. The camera has a 3.3x optical zoom and a 2.5-inch display. Available in blue, red, silver and black, the PowerShot A480 sells for HK$1,180 at Fortress.

The big picture

Sony's Vaio JS desktop computer (right) is slim, stylish and features a generous 20.1-inch display with widescreen video playback. Its camera, microphone and speakers are embedded around the screen, creating a minimalist effect. This 8.5kg audio-visual entertainment centre packs an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium operating system, a 2-gigabyte main memory, 256-megabytes of videocard memory, a 500GB hard disk drive and Wi-fi and Bluetooth support. In glossy black, silver and pink, the Vaio JS is priced at HK$8,980.

Internet 101

A slider handset suitable for novice mobile internet users (read: basic and cheap), the Nokia 7100 Supernova phone (above right) supports Edge cellular networks and Bluetooth but does not have Wi-fi connectivity. The device features a 1.3-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, a two-inch screen, a Web browser, a built-in FM radio and music player and 4-megabytes of internal storage. The Nokia 7100 Supernova costs HK$988.
