Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce

It's time to hack and slash your way through the Warring States period of China for honour and glory. You can make a name for yourself as the strongest warrior of the times in the new Playstation Portable game Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce.

For the first time in a Warriors' game, players can partner up with three friends and take up arms in a new ad hoc mode that allows you to take down enemy generals and troops together.

Strikeforce takes a page out of the Monster Hunter video game series by adding the 'Village' that acts as your base camp. There, you can improve your weapons at the blacksmith or have new ones made.

You can also learn new Chi arts at the Academy and increase your abilities by having attribute orbs made at the Workshop. There is also a Market where you can stock up on healing and battle items. During the course of your battles you will pick up materials that are used to make new orbs, weapons and chis.

If you find you don't have the right materials to make something, you can try your luck at the Exchange, where you can swap your items for something more useful. All of these places can be upgraded when you obtain officer cards that you occasionally get when someone visits the village.

There really has been no improvement in graphics and sound. This is disappointing but the new gaming aspects make up for this lack of effort on the developer's part.

Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce for the PSP is the best in the series so far after a long string of disappointments. Die-hard fans will be pleased to finally play a worthwhile Warriors' game and newcomers will find enough character development elements in this button masher to balance everything out.

This is an enjoyable gaming experience.
