Animated endings

Children are getting a chance to create their own cartoons by participating in the Toon Creator Awards, an online animation contest for kids in the Asia-Pacific region.

Until September 30, children can visit the Cartoon Network website and create their own 25-second ending after viewing a five-second mini-cliffhanger for either Ben 10: Alien Force or Chowder.

Children aged six to 14 from anywhere in the Asia-Pacific region are welcome to contribute. The entries will be judged by a combination of online voting and a professional judging panel.

Contributions will be uploaded to a gallery, so that children around the Asia-Pacific region can vote for their favourites. Clips with the most votes from each individual country will be country winners.

Country winners will receive an HP TouchSmart Personal Computer and automatically qualify for the regional competition to win an HP connected home grand prize. A panel of judges from Cartoon Network and from competition partner HP will decide the winner in terms of animation creativity and skills.

The overall regional Toon Creator Award winner will see their winning project broadcast on Cartoon Network in November this year.

Benjamin Grubbs, regional director for Turner Entertainment Interactive Media, said the competition aims to encourage kids to think out of the box and become animators.
