How do you measure HR effectiveness in the workplace?

Samsung values its people above everything else. There is a commitment to human resources and we have methods to measure its effectiveness. We have key performance indicators for overall HR effectiveness, such as staff turnover, manpower plan attainment, labour-cost ratio, and key position plan attainment. We also get feedback through staff surveys to find out what they think about the HR policies put forth by management. In order to strategically support the company, HR goals and targets will adapt with the changing needs of the business and the world market situation.

Human resources is an important business function, its effectiveness is closely related to the performance of the business. To gauge the effectiveness of HR from a macro viewpoint, we look at figures such as revenue, sales and feedback from customers. Such effectiveness can also be measured by looking at the level of loyalty and involvement of staff. If staff are highly interested in taking part in company activities such as annual dinners, charity events and staff get-togethers, HR has done well. Staff turnover rates are also an important indicator of the effectiveness of HR.
