Australian jockey Craig Williams will answer an SOS call from the Jockey Club to ride at next Sunday's Sha Tin Trophy meeting. With Jeff Lloyd out of action, Alex Lai Hoi-wing out on a drugs charge, Matthew Chadwick still under a cloud and five of the lightweight local riders and apprentices suspended as of today, the club was under some pressure to have a quorum next weekend, especially among the light jockeys. Williams has been the champion Melbourne rider for the past four years since returning to Australia from several successful seasons here as a club jockey. 'He is a jockey well known to owners and trainers here, which was one of the main reasons we asked him to come next week, and the other was that he rides at 113 pounds and that is where the jockey strength has been depleted,' said chief steward Kim Kelly. Williams and trainer David Hayes last week ended their successful partnership, awakening speculation that Williams might return to Hong Kong in the near future as a club rider.
