Raise a glass to a vintage week for lovers of fine wine

This will be a big wine week around the city. First, there will be five nights of wine events - tastings, food-pairing dinners and a wine 'journey' buffet - at the JW Marriott Hotel as part of its World Wine Tour promotion, featuring more than 200 wines from 50-plus wineries and chateaus.

And on Wednesday, as part of the SoHo Wine and Dine Carnival (one of the events of Hong Kong Food & Wine Year), the city's first Wine Walk will take place, with more than 50 restaurants and bars taking part.

To taste some of the vintages at the various outlets, you'll need to buy a HK$100 pass, which comprises six tickets giving you six half-glasses of tipple from 6pm until 9pm. Of course, if six aren't enough, you can always buy more. We suspect it will be more like a wine stumble than a walk by the end of the evening.
