Driving home the anti-drug message
As public concern over youth drug abuse rises, the government and social organisations are launching various programmes to combat the problem.
A sharing session will be held on Saturday to raise awareness of the dangers of drug use and help teenagers prepare for a design competition, 'Anti-drug Heroes'. The competition was launched by the Action Committee Against Narcotics and the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau in June and will run for a year.
The first two phases of the competition - 'Anti-drug Heroes' and 'Apparel of the Anti-drug heroes' - have finished. Saturday's event, organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, will help participants prepare for the third and final phase - 'Weapons to combat drugs of the Anti-drug Heroes'.
Illustrator and cancer survivor Montagut Chuen will be sharing her experience with the participants. Dr Au Yiu-kai from Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital will talk about the effects of drug abuse.
There will also be a dog show and a talk by a Narcotics Bureau official.
