Requirements Yoga instructors have to be passionate about the spiritual healing system. They need to practise every day to stay in shape, and there is no place in the profession for someone who lacks a genuine interest in it.
They also have to love working with people. Good communication skills are important as there is constant interaction with students.
Qualifications There are various yoga courses that eventually lead to a teaching level. Courses approved by the Yoga Alliance of the United States are well regarded but not the only way to become a teacher.
How good a yoga instructor is depends on how long they have practised it and their passion for it.
Average salary Yoga instructors are paid by the hour or by the session. They make HK$300 to HK$500 a session, depending on their experience and reputation.

Long-term prospects Experienced yoga instructors can expect to move into managerial roles at yoga centres and have private clients.
They will supervise other instructors and help design interesting and creative programmes for students.
Extremely successful instructors usually go on to open their own schools.
Where to apply Yoga studios, fitness centres and clubhouses in residential building complexes.
A day's work
The working hours of yoga instructors depend on when students are able to attend classes. In general, lessons are held early in the morning from 7am, and in the evening, after people have finished work or school. Teaching yoga is physically demanding and instructors are recommended to take on not more than four lessons a day. They have to make good use of their time and rest between lessons. They tend to be busier at the weekends, when students are more likely to have time to attend classes.
