THE second-hand market remains fairly quiet, although some Handysize bulk carriers were sold at firm levels, according to Wallem Shipbroking (Hong Kong).
In the tanker market, the Aframax Dirch Maersk, of 99,800 deadweight tonnes (dwt), built by Odense Lindo in 1983, has been sold to Bluewater for US$25 million.
The very large crude carrier Tropical Lion, of 256,387 dwt, built by Swan Hunter in 1972, has been sold to Adnatco for $5.5 million.
The vessel has been used for storage purposes for the past 13 years.
In the bulk carrier market, the Norden controlled Handymax Nordvind, of 42,208 dwt, built by Mitsui in December 1984, has been sold to Rethymnis and Kulukundis, for $16.2 million, considered a firm price.
Piraeus Greeks are reported to have purchased the Costanza M, of 37,677 dwt, a Future 32 type built by Ishikawajima in 1985, for $7.8 million.
The Turkish-controlled Hasat, of 26,867 dwt, built by Namura in 1978, also has been sold to Piraeus Greeks for $6.45 million.
The log carrier Apollo Ace, of 25,525 dwt, built by Imabari in 1985, has been sold to Korean buyers, believed to be Dooyang, for $11.2 million.
The damaged Calga, of 35,974 dwt, built by Sanoyasu in 1976, has been sold for $2 million on an as is basis.
