Derby potential there for all to see

Derby-bound Beauty Legend sealed his status as a four-year-old to follow after a determined win in the Tai Mo Shan Handicap (1,600m) for trainer Casper Fownes and leading jockey Brett Prebble. Fownes is in Perth with his family, but Prebble was more than glowing in his assessment of the Volksraad colt's ability. 'He stays, he relaxes and he is a nice little horse,' Prebble said. 'His owner is going to have a lot of fun with him and he'll run in the Derby, and he'll run well.' Beauty Legend won the Group Three Manawatu Classic (2,000m) in New Zealand when raced under the name Izonit, before placing fifth in the Queensland Derby behind Court Ruler in June last year. He has had just two starts in Hong Kong and placed third to Amigo on December 19 after making good ground. Prebble was unsure of Fownes' plans for Beauty Legend's next start, but hinted the Group One Classic Mile (1,600m) could be the next target.
