It's been a hasty week for the marketing team at adidas as outlandish American pop-art designer Jeremy Scott decided last minute to drop by Hong Kong to tout his latest collaboration for the sportswear's retro line, Originals by Originals. Featuring head-turning gear like high-top sneakers with a huge Mickey Mouse at the top of the tongue flap (worn by Wyman Wong Wai-man, left) and a tracksuit top that looks like a matador jacket (on Scott, right), the laid-back but funky stylist - who's been called the Jeff Koons of fashion - hosted a press conference on Monday and attended a cocktail event at the new Brother & Sister concept shop at 1881 Heritage, in the basement of the Emperor jewellery shop. However, he's been in town since last Saturday and is only leaving this morning.
Apparently, Scott wanted some R&R time in Hong Kong after a hectic Paris fashion week. 'I was here in 2006 but just for a couple of days,' he said at the reception, before being whisked away to schmooze with local fashion slaves like Wong and Hilary Tsui Ho-ying. Even Eason Chan Yik-shun came by.
He's spent the last two days checking out the local sights before heading to Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul for more press. According to his Twitter posts, Scott was most impressed by the macaroons in the shape of little adidas shoes when he arrived at his W Hotel suite.Topics: Eason Chan Hong Kong Films
