Barbie set comes with new friends

Modesty Blaise was a cartoon strip in the 1960s about an exceptional and talented young woman. Blaize Harris was putting his own spin on life imitating art in the South Stand with his mate, Thomas Adams, and a colourful team of Barbie girls. Together, they were living it up in a Barbie Sevens world.

In fact Harris' posse, with their stunning blonde bob hairstyles, may well have walked straight out of a '60s catwalk.

Harris, who is studying business management at Leeds Metropolitan, was dressed as a life-sized baby. 'Last year, we went as grannies so this year we wanted to reverse it and go as babies.'

Mona Wagner who grew up in Hong Kong, said: 'I have been coming to the Sevens for as long as I can remember, I love it. The week after Lunar New Year we came up with the costume idea. I confess, a part of me wanted to grow up as Barbie!'

Her friend, sisters Poppy and Alice Knight, were also soaking up the atmosphere as Barbie Girls.

Student Thomas Adams from Cardiff clearly got into the spirit, dressed as a baby, complete with 'My mum is hotter than your mum' bib.

'The best thing for me about the Sevens is being able to socialise with friends - and make new ones. There was a lot of deliberation about the boy's costumes. We wanted something original and funny, and decided on this as everyone loves babies.'
