Cheng to put love for cat into words

Following the success of her biography last year, actress-singer Sammi Cheng Sau-man plans to write another book - about her cat.

Cheng, who was in Taiwan recently to promote her biography, said she had developed a love affair with her new cat.

'Although I haven't had my kitty for long, I've become very attached to it and I'm deeply moved by this love. I would like to share this with other cat lovers,' she said.

Cheng's first book, which is in its 10th print run in Hong Kong, talks about her transformation in recent years and how she overcame depression with the help of her religion. The 37-year-old singer suffered severe depression in 2005 and took a two-year break from performing.

'After the depression, I realised I should not take everything for granted. It's already a blessing if you can breathe freely,' said the singer, who released a top-selling gospel album, Faith, last year. 'Yes, life won't always be smooth every day. But now I face adversities with a completely different attitude. I'm a very optimistic person now.'
