This week we test: perfume for your mum

Fragrance can be a very thoughtful present for Mother's Day. Choose a scent that suits her style and personality.

Helena Rubinstein Wanted (HK$450/30ml)

Helena Rubinstein launched a fragrance once, but it was so long ago no one remembers. So this is the 'signature' scent. It combines ylang ylang, magnolia and iris over a woody base. Very feminine, but best for strong personalities. Pricy!

Ralph Lauren Summer Romance (HK$380/50ml)

A powerful blend of sweet fruit and slightly musky florals - smells like a tropical island holiday. Strong - you can smell it metres away - and lasts for hours.

Emporio Armani Diamonds for Women (HK$500/100ml)

You need a lot of this, because the scent doesn't linger. Notes include lychee, rose and patchouli - the usual suspects - but the mix is a bit 70s. Disappointing, but props for the bottle and name.

Diesel Fuel for Life for Women Fuel (HK$420/75ml)

Mandarin and bergamot plus a little bit of jasmine make a sweet yet refreshing fragrance. Perfect for chic, energetic mums but it's not cheap.

Viktor & Rolf Eau Mega (HK$400/30ml)

A fun and classy bottle houses a blend of pear, basil, jasmine for an elegant, luxurious scent. Refreshing and addictive - and long-lasting.
