Thirty years of quarrelling maintains brothers in creative frame of mind

Brazilian artist Humberto Campana says creating art with his brother Fernando isn't easy, especially since they've been collaborating for nearly 30 years. 'We quarrel every day. But that's what has kept us together. We have this interesting chemistry, or synergy. We are like kids when we create art,' Humberto, 57, said.

On Thursday they launched their book, Complete Works (So Far), and unveiled an exhibition of their furniture and collages at the Louis Vuitton Gallery, works that speak of their kidult spirit, such as chairs made of recycled panda and Mickey Mouse plush toys.

The venue was packed with the artsy crowd, many asking the brothers for autographs and photographs. The pair, who arrived from Sao Paulo the day before, looked a little groggy because of the 11-hour time difference.

'I'm terribly jet-legged,' Humberto (back) said. 'Sometimes I don't know what I'm saying. I'm confused but still I'm happy to be here.'

Next up for the brothers is a week-long holiday back in Sao Paulo, but they will be two of the few Brazilians not watching the forthcoming Fifa World Cup, starting on June 11.

'I don't like football at all. Brazil is not just about football. Unfortunately, many people only know Brazil for its football team. Brazil has much more to offer.'
