No appeal for coach driver in fatal crash

The driver of a tour coach that struck and killed a 15-year-old girl and injured 50 people after careering out of control down a steep road in Central in June 2008 has been denied the chance to appeal against the sentence. The Court of Appeal found the 32-month jail term imposed in October last year on Andy Chan Ying-keung, 34, by Deputy District Judge Timothy Casewell was not excessive. Chan had pleaded guilty in September to one count of dangerous driving causing death. Mr Justice Wally Yeung Chun-kuen said dangerous driving could be 'extremely lethal' and that offenders should expect a custodial sentence.
