Tutor still missing

Police have made no breakthrough in finding part-time English tutor Terry Ridgley despite a public appeal for information early this week.

Yesterday, officers were still looking for the 45-year-old after his younger brother in Britain sent an e-mail on July 22 asking Hong Kong police to find him.

Ridgley, who has been in the city for many years and holds a permanent identity card, was last contacted by his family in Britain by phone on May 8.

Officers went to an address provided by his family at Tai Tei Tong in Mui Wo, Lantau, but were told he had moved out several months ago.

The New Territories South missing persons unit has also checked with the Hospital Authority but found no information suggesting Ridgley has been involved in an accident or been admitted to hospital. Police said immigration records show he has not left the city.

On Monday, police issued a public appeal to find Ridgley. He is 1.83 metres tall, weighs 86 kilograms, is of medium build and has a long, pointed face and short, straight, black hair. Anyone with information can call 3661 1172-6.
