Warning on Loch Fyne smoked salmon products

The Centre for Food Safety warned the public not to eat 'Loch Fyne' pre-packed smoked salmon products after two samples of a consignment from Scotland were found to have the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogen that causes listeriosis, a serious illness. The products involved have a 'best before' date of November 18.

Drug-driving suspect arrested

A 32-year-old motorist was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving early yesterday after a collision between his car and a delivery van in Wong Tai Sin. The car rammed into the back of the delivery van before it mowed down a 10-metre stretch of railings and crashed into a hillside.

Ten hurt in Tsing Yi crash

Ten minibus passengers were injured in a six-vehicle pile-up in Tsing Kwai Road near Tsing Yi Bridge (South) in Tsing Yi at about 11.45pm on Wednesday. The crash involved two minibuses, a car and three goods vehicles.

Five held over Ma On Shan attack

Five men aged from 24 to 50 were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a 46-year-old man in Ma On Shan. Police are looking for another three men in connection with the attack. The victim was drinking with his friends in Tin Shui Road when the attack happened at about 3.15am.

Policeman on motorcycle hurt

A policeman was injured in the left hand when his motorcycle crashed into railings in Ho Man Tin. The officer lost control of his machine while veering to avoid hitting a car in Fat Kwong Street at about 1.45am.

Sau Mau Ping footbridge incident

Passers-by stopped a 42-year-old woman from jumping off a footbridge in Hiu Kwong Street, Sau Mau Ping at about 4.30am. She was taken to United Christian Hospital for examination.

Suicide-bid boy saved by mother

A 13-year-old boy was saved by his mother, 49, when he tried to hang himself at home in Fu Keung Street, Wong Tai Sin at about 7.15am.
