As any foodie will tell you, it's not just about how it tastes but how it looks too.
A group of buzzed journalists - thanks to a complementary cocktail and a bottle of vodka - learned this lesson first-hand on Tuesday afternoon as Hong Kong-born mixologist Kenji Jess (pictured above) put on a show at a rooftop bar at IFC as part of a Smirnoff media event.
The half-Japanese, half-British 34-year-old - who was a bartender and mixology teacher for nearly a decade before being selected by the British vodka brand to be its global ambassador - showed off two of his specially designed cocktails at the event.
The first drink, dubbed the Mar-Iced Lemon Tea-Ni, was a mix of iced lemon tea with Smirnoff vodka and a hint of Campari Aperitif. The other, Dragon Eye, was a tangy blend of lime, Smirnoff and dragon eye fruit.
According to Smirnoff representatives, the drinks won't be sold in the city, but Kenji shared the recipe in case we wanted to give them a try.
Based in London, he is in the city for several days to hold workshops with bartenders all around Hong Kong. On Tuesday night, he was seen at Solas teaching the staff there a thing or two.
The important lesson, though, according to the expert, is to 'drink responsibly'.
