Casual clothing retailer Giordano International posted a 16.9 per cent year-on-year rise in sales in the year's third quarter, with sales in the first nine months rising 10 per cent. No dollar figure was provided. Growth in the third quarter was led by Taiwan's 15.8 per cent, compared with Hong Kong's 8.2 per cent and the mainland's 6 per cent, calculated on a same-store basis. Gross profit margin in the quarter was 56.7 per cent, compared with 52.1 per cent in the same quarter last year. Margin for the year's first nine months rose 8.1 percentage points year-on-year to 57.5 per cent. The chain added 43 outlets in the third quarter, 26 on the mainland.
