Call to help abused children

Psychological abuse of children is not well recognised in the city, a children's help group says, and society should try its utmost to prevent such incidents. Against Child Abuse received 876 reports in the past year, in which 42 per cent were suspected cases and 33 per cent concerned child management. Of the suspected cases, 45 per cent involved physical abuse, 21 per cent neglect and 18 per cent sexual abuse. Nearly six in 10 cases were reported by family members, an action that the group said should be encouraged.
