Catch tail end of lunar eclipse on December 21

A total lunar eclipse will occur on December 21 but will be seen only as a partial eclipse in some parts of Hong Kong if the weather is fine. Woo Wang-chun, a scientific officer at the Hong Kong Observatory, said: 'The only part of the eclipse that will be visible in Hong Kong occurs when the moon is about to leave the umbra,' the darkest part of the earth's shadow. The moon will rise at 5.44pm and leave the umbra at 6.02pm. The eclipse will end at around 7.06pm.
