Man jailed for shaking son
The District Court jailed a man for 16 months after he pleaded guilty to ill-treating his son. John Rodney Alconaba, 33, repeatedly shook his son, now two years old, so hard he had to spend more than a month in hospital and may have permanent damage to his eyesight.
Search fails to find robber
Police failed to find a masked robber who stole HK$40,000 at gunpoint from a money exchange in East Point Road, Causeway Bay. The man, wearing a black suit and a face mask, threatened an employee and demanded money.
Police issue arson suspect's photo
Police released a photograph of a man wanted in connection with three arson attacks in Mong Kok - one of which damaged more than 80 stalls and shops, injuring seven people. The man, in his 40s, wearing a light-coloured coat and jeans, was caught on cameras between 4.45am and 5.11am on Monday.
Two more held after fight video
Anti-triad officers arrested two more men involved in a street fight in North Point that was shown on a YouTube video clip, bringing the total to eight so far. The two men were arrested on Thursday night.
Drunk injures policewoman
A policewoman was injured as she arrested a drunken man who was kicking a security gate and shouting outside a residential flat in Hong Fu House at Cheung Hong Estate, Tsing Yi, early yesterday. She was treated for minor arm injuries.
Customs net illicit fuel on boat
Customs officers impounded a fishing boat and arrested its master after seizing HK$810,000 worth of illicit diesel on board the vessel in an operation in Hong Kong waters off Cheung Chau.
Man had 1kg of ketamine
A 38-year-old man was arrested in possession of one kilogram of ketamine worth HK$120,000 at a taxi rank near Sun Chui Estate in Sha Tin.
Group sought after assault
Four to five men are being sought after assaulting a man and taking his truck from a car park in Austin Road, Yau Ma Tei, at 4.30am.
