Shung Tak Catholic English College

On December 5, old boys and girls from the Yuen Long school reunited at the school's first Alumni Day. Past principals Hilda Kwan and Mary Poon attended, along with many former teachers and students.

Shung Tak Alumni Association chairman Nelson Wong and principal Lucia Lau started the day's events with welcome speeches, which were followed by a lion dance and an explosion of confetti.

The event was also an opportunity to bless the school's newly renovated staff room, library and distance-learning room. The school orchestra, dance troupe and a cappella ensemble entertained guests with stunning performances. On the campus, there were various activities, such as stall games, sports and karaoke. Fresh graduates teamed up with teachers in friendly basketball and football matches. It was a day we will all remember remember for years to come.

Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial College

This year, our school held its annual athletics meet over two days from December 7.

The meet was not only the sporting highlight of the year, but also marked our last school event for 2010.

Captains and vice-captains of the four houses - Benevolence, Elegance, Integrity and Loyalty - performed impressive opening dances. Their moves really cheered up and encouraged their house members.

Then it was time for the track and field events. All the athletes tried their best to score points for their house. , Competition was keenest in the inter-class relay.

While the competitors did their best on the field to cross the line first, the cheerleaders were working hard off the field to cheer their house members on.

After some tough competition and loud cheers, the meet was won by Elegance House.

Even though the weather was cooler than last year, everyone's enthusiasm warmed not only the sporting ground, but also our hearts. It was a special and memorable day.

South Tuen Mun Government Secondary School

Graduates, students, teachers and guests gathered for the school's 20th Annual Speech Day on December 3.

Principal Allan Chan reported exceptional performances by students in the public examinations. The top performer was Choi Chun-wai who scored 3As and 1B in the A-levels.

As for the HKCEE, Au Yeung Tsun scored 6As and 2Bs. Zhang Jian-peng scored 5As and 3Bs, Ip Ho-wai earned 5As and 2Bs, and Kwan Chung-ming got 5As and 2Bs.

Students also did well in maths and science outside of exams.

Chan Ho-ching won the gold prize at the Mathematics Olympiad and Tuen Mun Inter-school Mathematics Competition. Wong Kwan-ting was awarded a distinction in the Australian National Chemistry Quiz organised by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.

Guest-of-honour Dr Kwan Siu-kam, chairman of the school management committee, encouraged the students to strive for excellence.
