Twin perks

Smooth performance and streamline design. No, it's not the latest Porsche but a range of luxury grooming products by TwinLuxe that has New York's beautiful set all in a lather. Founded by former Wall Street bankers and twin brothers Anthony and Hubert Tsai, the shaving and skin-care line brings art and craftsmanship to the shaving ritual. Drawing inspiration from the car and watchmaking realms, the design of their hand-crafted shaving instruments is the domain of Marek Djordjevic, whose impressive repertoire includes the Rolls-Royce Phantom family of cars. Military precision

Young British designer Christopher Raeburn uses decommissioned military stocks to create functional and meticulously crafted garments (there's a captain's coats constructed from Swiss wool coats dating back 60 years, parkas made from surplus Swiss military sleeping bags, hoodies made from parachutes and knifes crafted from surplus military horseshoe nails). Now his work has caught the eye of Victorinox, makers of the Original Swiss Army Knife. The brand commissioned him to create a REMADE IN SWITZERLAND capsule collection for autumn-winter 2011. Drive through

In the 1986 hit movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, one scene left car lovers gasping - when Bueller's best friend, Cameron Frye, accidentally sends his father's much-loved and over-pampered Ferrari through the garage's glass walls and into the woods. Now the property is for sale. Designed by A. James Speyer and David Haid, the Illinois property spans 5,300-square feet and is listed for US$1.65 million.
