A COURT return date was yesterday fixed for a Japanese businessman charged with possession of arms and ammunition without a licence, after a cache of weapons was allegedly found in his Happy Valley home.
Magistrate Jonathan Acton-Bond set down August 24 for committal proceedings.
He allowed Hirai Hirotsugu to extend his $12 million bail - $5 million cash and two cash sureties totalling $7 million - granted by Mr Justice Ryan in the High Court.
Hirotsugu, 29, is accused of having in his possession 43 rifles, 24 pistols, four air-pistols, 1,000 ammunition cartridges and three antique anti-tank rockets, on July 5 at his flat at Beverly Hill, Happy Valley.
His other bail terms demand that he surrenders his travel document, reports daily to a police station and resides in his Happy Valley home.
