Holland on track for parting success

ENGLISH visitor Darryll Holland could have a winning farewell before his three-meeting holiday by taking the final event at Happy Valley tonight with last-start winner, Best One. Holland has hit the headlines during his brief stint to date and goes into the midweek meeting heading the jockeys' championship with popular French rider, Eric Legrix. But his three-meeting ban for careless riding will cut into his three-month contract here and he said: 'That's what hurts most. I'm only here for a relatively short period and it would have been great to leave after three months on top of the championship.

'But you simply cannot afford to miss three meetings. Hopefully, I can go out on a winning note anyway.' Best One looks his best chance, it is as simple as that. The horse has not always been consistent, but the manner with which he persevered to win over 1,600 metres at Sha Tin on opening day, suggests he is up to making it two on end over the Valley version of 1,800 metres.

Best One has continued to work well since his last outing and does not seem to have been weighted out of this Class Two event. He must also have a decided advantage over some involved here with the previous run under his belt. The biggest danger could be Conticasta first-up as he has been doing plenty of work for this and does go well fresh. Trainer Kenny Kam has engaged Eric Legrix for the ride and the Frenchman has been enjoying a fabulous run to date. Conticasta relishes the Valley and must be included.
