THE gals and guys at FM Select smacked their lips in anticipation when a memo went up on the noticeboard at their subterranean den in Hunghom.

It announced a blow-out at the spacious Peak pad of gregarious piano playing Metro Broadcast boss Craig Quick on Friday.

The party was being held to welcome Phillip Chan, the station's new deputy MD, and bid farewell to bubbly disc-jockey Sandra Lang who is emigrating to Canada.

In other words, it was hello Phillip, goodbye Sandra.

But their mouth-watering visions of appetising curries and savoury kebabs were soon dashed when another notice went up a day or two later informing all and sundry that Friday's bash was a 'bring your own food' affair.
