Now that the warm weather is here, I have run out of my favourite nipple stickers from women'secret (the nearest branches are in Seoul and Singapore). It seems crazy to buy them online. Is there a local substitute you could recommend?
The Dictator rules: Shopping online? Yeah, crazy! It's not like online retail is a major business model or anything. Get over your technophobic ways, stop whingeing and get shopping. If you had just clicked 'buy' when you first ran out of them, you'd probably have a new supply by now. What's even more crazy is you didn't think to try local stores that are renowned for carrying unusual Japanese products. At Sasa, you would have found: Nipp-Non (get it?) nipple stickers by Kokubo (HK$28 for six sets; for locations, visit www.sasa.com.hk or call 2505 5023); the Cosmos 'Flower Nipple Pad for Fashion' (HK$18 for five pairs); and the Undercover brand's Cover Ups, which are similar to those larger reusable chicken fillet bra doodads (HK$99). City'super's Lifestyle department never disappoints on this, uh, front. Take a look at the Petit Bra Nipple Bra from Korea (HK$188; Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 2888). Or scrap the whole idea. Get a proper bra with enough padding to hide those raisins. Even Marks & Spencer has a wide range of 'T-Shirt' bras and other styles starting from HK$295 for two (28 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2921 8059).
I just love the idea of those dresses that look like a top and a skirt but are really one easy piece. Who makes them?
One and Only, Robinson Road
The Dictator: Who doesn't? Yes, news flash, dresses are easier. Am I the only one who finds this trend a bit silly? I mean, isn't the whole point of having separates is so that you can mix and match and extend your wardrobe options? If you're going to go down that road, we think Paule Ka is doing it best, and with the widest selection of sophisticated, colour-blocked designs, with a mix of bright yellows and neutral tones (HK$6,195 to HK$9,195; Chater House, Central, tel: 2868 2099). Max & Co has also done some pretty, wearable daytime dresses that look like separates and are available in neutrals (HK$3,280; The Landmark, Central, tel: 2918 0386). Take it up a notch with the lovely layers created by Felipe Oliveira Baptista (HK$20,500; Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, tel: 3695 3388). Or do it in knit with Sonia Rykiel's playful designs (HK$8,695 and up; The Landmark, tel: 2525 6048). As I said, everyone's doing these, so you can find more affordable and younger interpretations of the trend at shops such as Bossini, 00which has dresses with cute polka-dot prints (HK$499 to HK$539; 27A Des Voeux Road Central, tel: 2524 9313), and Club Monaco (HK$1,490; Gateway Arcade, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2118 5647), to name a few.
All mascaras seems to flake or run on my eyelashes and I have given up waiting for Tilda Swinton's no-mascara-look to become fashionable. I heard about Blick, the mascara that coats the lashes yet can be washed off with water. I checked the website but I can't find details of where I can buy it. I realise you will shout at me, but please can you help?
Reluctant Panda, Central
The Dictator: The only thing you're right about is my desire to shout. Unfortunately, they won't publish this column in all capital letters (I've tried.) The first of many things you've got totally wrong is the product name. Thanks for wasting our time on that. It's Blinc, a Florida-based brand. What might have contributed to your general confusion is it used to be called Kiss Me. Regardless, the formula remains the same; it uses what they call water-resistant 'tubes' to coat the lashes without clumping, flaking or smudging. Its products are not yet sold by any Hong Kong retailers. However, you can order the mascara and other Blinc make-up through the official website, www.blincinc.com . The mascara costs HK$194, plus HK$46 for shipping. Come back to us when you're over the Blinc obsession, because there are other similar products out there by everyone from L'Oreal to Dior.Topics: Singapore Cosmetics Seoul Mascara Cosmetics Seoul .hk
