About 100 Form Five students from 21 secondary schools will take intensive English courses offered by Polytechnic University to get a taste of university-level study. They will be among the first to enter university under the new 3+3+4 curriculum.
The programme will also help the university understand the needs of this new group of students, Wan Chi-keung, vice-president for academic development, said.
He said the university will work with secondary schools to get feedback from teachers and students to help improve its English degree programme under the new curriculum.
The training will include 40 hours of lectures conducted by university professors and assisted by international students. Another element will be designing competitions and campaigns to promote Hong Kong in English.
The programme follows the success of a pilot scheme last year.
