The little pots containing four small bamboo plants tied together with a red ribbon - a common sight - are often assumed to relate to wealth. As the wealth sector as per the Flying Stars is located in the northwest this year, you may have thought it would be a good idea to place the bamboo in this sector. However, this is inaccurate as placing the bamboo in the northwest will interfere with the earth element of the wealth star as wood attacks earth. So where should the bamboo be placed?

The wood element signified by the bamboo can be placed in the west this year as the fire energy that represents joyful occasions and celebrations is present here. The wood will feed into the fire, thereby stimulating the positive energy further. The academic or romance sector that is governed by the wood element is present in the southwest this year; so placing the bamboo here will also improve interpersonal relationships within the home or office and increase singleton's chances of finding a life partner.

The sector in which the bamboo should not be placed is the south, as the wood energy associated with aggression, overwork and arguments is present here. Note that bamboo should also not be placed in bedrooms (regardless of whether they are in positive or negative sectors for the year) as they may disrupt your rest.
