Blinkers works wonders on youngster

A more-focused Adoration got the job done wearing blinkers for the first-time for astute trainer John Size, who felt the gear change was the difference between victory and a third runners-up cheque for his laid back improver. Size turned to the headgear in an attempt to get his talented, but casual racehorse into the winner's stall, and jockey Douglas Whyte ensured there were no mistakes made with the heavily supported three-year-old. 'Adoration had just been a little nonplussed about his racing, he hadn't been alert enough and, I think with the blinkers, he just travelled a little bit better and finished a little bit better, so he was able to scramble home,' Size said. 'There were plenty of anxious moments waiting for him to get a run, but in handicap terms the neck margin is good. 'He's a quiet horse with a very good temperament, but it looked like today might have stirred him up a bit.'
