Prebble stands out with quality book of rides

If Brett Prebble had a full book of eight rides tonight he would have opened Jockey Challenge favourite but, with six rides, the oddsmakers are prepared to chance their arm and offer $2.85 about the 'King of the Valley.'

Douglas Whyte has the full compliment and narrowly edged out Prebble in the Sha Tin Challenge on Sunday but, at an overnight quote of $2.65, Whyte is a beatable favourite without a clear-cut standout to lean on.

Prebble's followers will have no such trouble nominating their great hope for the night, and Many Gains should be extremely hard to beat as he guns for three in a row for new trainer Caspar Fownes in race four.

Rocket And Gold and Private Road provide a solid start for Prebble to chalk up some early points, but the rides on Happy Ambassador and the previously mentioned Many Gains are where the serious points will be harvested.

Happy Ambassador drops in grade, returns to his pet distance and has drawn ideally for Prebble to extract a fourth win from Francis Lui Kin-wai's runner.

Speedy grey Charity Spirit will take some gunning down in what promises to be a fast run 1,000m Devon Handicap, and Happy Tumbler returned to form with a barnstorming second that will make him hard to topple should he repeat that effort in the last tonight.
