If you're dying to make a lasting impression in an industry that booms whether times are good or bad, you might consider the funeral business. Industry insiders have set up 7749 Company, the city's first for-profit venture to recruit people in their 20s and 30s into the funeral industry.
'We want to recruit the younger generation into the field,' said Richard Chan, its chief executive.
Aspiring funeral workers can take 7749's introductory course in mortuary services and also get on-the-job training.
The course will present basic knowledge of ceremony rituals and burial procedures. Management, accounting and legacy law - all important in running a funeral home - will also be covered, Chan said.
