Man in court over fake HK$100 notes

Hui Chi-tong appeared in Eastern Court yesterday charged with passing a counterfeit HK$100 note at a stall in the Java Road Market, North Point, and possessing four other counterfeit notes. The court heard 25 more fakes were found in the home of the 36-year-old, who was arrested on Tuesday. The case was adjourned to August 4.

Memorial service for victim of Ma Tau Wai fire

A memorial service for Summer Tse Yan-yee, 18, a victim of last month's Ma Tau Wai blaze, will be held at 7pm today at Kowloon True Light Middle School, Kowloon Tong. Her funeral will take place at Universal Funeral Parlour on Sunday evening.

Next Media in court on copyright summons

A representative of Next Media Interactive, which manages the Apple Daily website, appeared in Eastern Court yesterday on a summons alleging copyright infringement regarding 33 news articles distributed on July 9, 2009. The copyright owner was not named. No plea was entered and the case was adjourned to August 4.

Companies fined over fatal fall down lift well

Chevalier (HK) and Glorious (HK) International were fined HK$25,000 and HK$42,000 in Kwun Tong Court for violating regulations after a worker died from injuries received in a fall from an unprotected lift door in a Kai Yip Estate building in Kowloon Bay on December 23.

A woman, 19, was arrested and two others are being sought over an online scam in which people were cheated into buying HK$60,000 of concert tickets they never received.

Pair on murder charge over toy salesman's death

A man, 24, and woman, 27, were charged with murder yesterday over the death of a toy salesman, 38, in Yau Ma Tei on June 30. They will appear in Kowloon City Court today.
