Children's book gets the peach rolling

To mark the 50th anniversary of the children's classic James and the Giant Peach, Penguin Books, the Puffin Group, and the Roald Dahl Nominee Limited have jointly organised an international campaign to 'roll James's Giant Peach around the world.'

Fans of the book can send a virtual peach through the internet or print out a 'paper Peach-gram' by registering on the website followthatpeach.com.

Children and adults of all ages are invited to spread the fun.

James and the Giant Peach was written by popular British children's author Roald Dahl and published in 1961. The book depicts an orphan taking on an exhilarating journey on a gigantic peach.

The site's 'Follow that peach' campaign seeks to familiarise a new generation of readers with the book.

A Virtual Peach Scoreboard keeps track of peaches that have been rolled either to the farthest distance or to the most people.

The site also urges readers to organise peach-themed events for the annual Roald Dahl day on September 13.
