Expo Centre scheduled for October start

Wuhan International Expo Centre will welcome its first event - The National Automobile Component Trade Fair - scheduled to open on October 15. Located in the Hanyang Sixin district, the expo centre has a total construction area of 5.02 million square metres with a total investment of more than 20 billion yuan (HK$24.41 billion). It will include the exhibition halls, conference centres, hotels, a marine park and other residential and commercial developments.

Polar Park expected to make splash next month

The Wuhan Polar Park, the largest marine theme park in central China, will open next month, according to the Wuhan Tourism Bureau. The park covers an area of 600,000 square metres, and provides a total floor area of above 60,000 square metres at its exhibition halls. Built in the shape of a giant white whale, the park will also be the first multi-storey indoor polar park in China.

Construction continues at Greenland Group

Shanghai-based developer Greenland Group announced last December that construction is continuing on the Wuhan Greenland Centre in Wuhan, a 606-metre tall skyscraper that is said to be the world's third tallest.

Wuchang seeks union with Utah State University

Wuchang University of Technology is in discussion with the Utah State University in the United States to set up the Wuhan-Utah State University in Wuhan, according to reports. A delegation from the US university visited Wuchang in June to discuss the project and inspect the site of the proposed university.

Honda Lock signs deal with district government

Japan's Honda Lock Manufacturing Co has signed a contract with Wuhan Dongxihu district government to build an auto component production base in Wujiashan area, according to reports. The project will be located in the Wujiashan economic development zone, with an investment of 330 million yuan. It is expected to begin operation before June next year.
