Fashion fans savour a night of French style

It was a busy weekend for the city's A-listers. After Van Cleef & Arpels' star-studded store opening on Friday, a similar crowd gathered the following day for Yves Saint Laurent's soiree.

That event kicked off with a cocktail party at the French fashion house's boutique in Alexandra House, followed by an exclusive presentation of its women's autumn-winter collection at the French consul general's residence.

Most guests turned out in full Yves Saint Laurent attire, while veteran actress Cherie Chung Chor-hung showed up in a power suit and hip socialite Laurinda Ho Chiu-lin rocked in a leopard-print mini.

Chung, who has retired from the film industry, congratulated newly crowned Venice Film Festival best actress Deanie Ip Tak-han, but said she herself had no plans for a comeback.

'I'm so happy for her, but I'm not thinking about getting back into acting myself,' said Chung, who made her last film in 1991.

Instead, she plans to travel around the world and aspires to becoming a travel blogger.

'It's my dream to travel around the world. When I look at the map, I feel there are still so many places I've never been. I also want to share it on my blog,' she said. 'I have plenty of material to write about, I just need to put it all together.'
