Forum to tackle environment

Kids4Kids, a Hong Kong charity, is inviting youngsters to take part in a forum on Saturday at Chinese International School in Braemar Hill. The 'Powered by Youth' event will focus on empowering young people to improve conditions for less fortunate children.

This year's theme, 'I Live Therefore I Can - Live Earth, Love Earth', highlights the importance of environmental issues.

The full day of activities, from 10am to 4pm, will feature talks by activists, including Mike Kilburn, environmental programme director at the Civic Exchange; Tiffany Leung of the Clean Air Network; and Rachel Chan, a founder of Make a Difference.

After lunch, participants will be divided into four groups to tackle environmental projects.

The 'Art For A Cause' competition, returning for another year, focuses on the theme 'My Hong Kong'.

Another project aims to set up market days at schools, where students can sell items to benefit their favourite causes.

There will also be a communications group that will explore how to use print, video, photography and social media to spread their messages. Another group will work to develop various outreach and volunteering opportunities for the Kids4Kids' China outreach trip next year.
