Tiime marches on for Li's Asian ambition

DIDN'T we warn you a week or two ago when he launched his satellite telecommunications service that Richard Li is back? On our desk is the latest issue of Time - and with time to kill between lunch and the next cocktail party - Keeping Posted scanned its pages.

We came upon the smiling face of Pacific Century Group chairman Li on the roof of his corporate eyrie in Citibank Plaza.

Li is featured in the international news magazine's 'Global 100' - its 'roster of young leaders for the new millennium'.

The 28-year-old tycoon is described in the article as 'the wunderkind' who dreamed up STAR TV which we are informed 'revolutionised Asia's electronic media overnight'.

It goes on to say: 'Li now wants to do for telecommunications what he did for television.

'He hopes he can thereby bring millions of people in touch with one another.' We couldn't quite work out what that last sentence meant and sought clarification.

But unfortunately Li and Keeping Posted were unable to get 'in touch with one another' as he was out of town fine-tuning yet another of his business deals.
