Kary Ng Yu-fei, who signed up with Universal Music's Cinepoly Records last month, is on the way to becoming Canto-pop's next diva. The singer recently performed in South Korea, as the only Asian female singer in front of Universal bosses at the label's annual summit.
Ng appeared in a diva-like ensemble of a cut-out red maxi dress and leopard-print heels.
'This is the first time I've performed in front of so many professionals from my record label. Many of them are the great minds behind top-notch international stars,' she said. 'I was so nervous before performing that I got sweaty palms. I felt more pressure than when I held my solo concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum.'
Her performance drew a warm round of applause from the audience and she was congratulated backstage by fellow violinist David Garrett, who has been dubbed a 'classical rock star'.
'I think it was a great experience. It really opened my eyes and offered me an opportunity to meet all the musicians,' she said.
Ng's new Canto-pop album is scheduled to be released next month.Topics: Human Interest Entertainment Hong Kong Singers Music Pop Music
