Roses help beauty brand overcome thorny issue of how to stand out in the crowd

Owing to the heated competition among cosmetics firms, with their endless promotions, the masterminds of these events are having to get more and more creative.

Japanese beauty brand SK-II launched its luxury beauty line LXP on Tuesday at a private venue in Duddell Street, Central, and the event had a bit of everything hip.

Three celebrity artists, oil painter Margaret Yau, milliner Jaycow and fashion designer Vivian Luk, were booked to create a piece inspired by the rose - one of the product line's key ingredients. About 30 socialites were invited to an exclusive preview of the new products.

To echo the rose theme - more than 1,000 roses were used to decorate the backdrop - a booth for rose arrangements was set up. Each guest got a hand rub with the rosy cream while sipping pink bubbly.

Truly la vie en rose.
